An inkjet printer is a lot like a teenaged boy, always hungry. They guzzle ink as though they are starving, and with the high cost of those inkjet cartridges, it can often feel like you are paying to feed another child. In fact, the high cost of inkjet cartridges are the number one reason why so many people have now switched to refilling inkjet cartridges.
Many inkjet printer owners hate spending a small fortune to keep their printers in ink, but they keep buying new inkjet cartridges because they are don't really understand how the refills work. Due to their misconceptions about inkjet printer refills, these people continue to spend more money then they have to.
For some reason, refills have really gotten a bad rap. But refilling your cartridges is not nearly the hassle that some people seem to think it is. In fact, most of the reasons that people give for avoiding refills are not even true. Here are a few of them, along with explanations to set the record straight.
1. You Need To Be A Certified Technician To Refill Cartridges
You do not need to be a certified technician in order to refill your cartridges. Anyone can do it by simply following the instructions that come with each printer refill kit. Although inkjet printer refills can seem a little difficult at first, the process really is pretty simple. It is just like anything else, it becomes easier the more times you do it.
Printer refill kits are available at most office supply stores. Bring the make and model number of your printer with you so that you don't have any trouble finding the right kit. Refill kits are also available online, at prices that are generally lower than in office supply stores.
2. There Is No One I Can Get To Refill The Cartridges For Me
There are many stores that will take care of refilling ink cartridges for you. All you have to do is locate one, take in your empty cartridges, and have them refilled.
If you want to really simplify your life, just mail the empty cartridges back to the manufacturer. Almost all of them will refill your cartridges and return them to you for free.
3. It Takes Forever To Refill An Inkjet Cartridge
It does not take hours to refill an inkjet cartridge. Once you know what you are doing, it shouldn't take you more than fifteen minutes, twenty if you are really slow. Or you could do it in just five minutes by taking the cartridge to a store with a refilling system. Either way, refilling inkjet cartridges only takes a matter of minutes, not hours.
4. Inkjet Printer Refills Violate My Printer's Warranty
An inkjet printer refill would have to found directly responsible for causing damage to your printer in order to void your printer's warranty, something that is highly unlikely. The truth is that many manufacturers try to intimidate people into spending more money than they have to on new cartridges in order to make more money for themselves. Any lawyer could tell you that most of these warranties are total violations of consumer protection laws. Bottom line, using refills instead of new cartridges is not going to void the warranty on your printer.
So if you are looking to save a little money, you might want to start refilling inkjet cartridges instead of continually buying new ones. It is a bit more of a hassle than just buying new cartridges, but it really isn't as much of a hassle as people seem to think.
