Basic Coffee Shop Terms

Every coffee shop out there will be designed differently and have various menus in place. Yet there are some basics you will find on those menus that you should become familiar with. This can allow you to really get the most out of your coffee shop experiences. Don't limit yourself to just a hot cup of coffee when there is so much more for your to taste.

However, if you understand a few terms then figuring out what is available on the menu won't be so difficult. You can take a chance and order something you may find to be delicious without hesitating. If the coffee shop is very busy it may be hard for the staff to take the time to explain it all to you. If you need their assistance try to ask questions during slower times of the day.

Not everyone likes coffee and that is understandable. Yet if a hot drink with some caffeine and a great taste is appealing to you, then try a cappuccino. You can get it plain or with a variety of great flavors added to it. This is a combination of espresso as either a single or double size. You will also find steamed milk in it for a smooth taste. The top layer will be delicious froth.

You will find latte to be a common drink offered at many coffee shops. This is a combination of espresso and steamed milk. Unless you ask for something special 2/3 of it will be the steamed milk. You can choose from a variety of flavors that the coffee shop offers.

Many people love the light and great taste at the top of a hot drink. This foamy delight is known as froth. There is a special machine that creates it and then it is added to the finished product. This is a great tasting treat that you should find to be to your satisfaction. Some drinks such as latte including it but you can also ask for it to top off your other drinks as well.

For chocolate lovers, a mocha is perfect. This is very similar to the latte but it has chocolate flavoring included in it. Some people find it to be not as sweet as hot chocolate but not as bitter as coffee. It is the perfect in between drink for someone who visits a coffee shop and needs something new to try.

An espresso is another term that you will see quite a bit in coffee shops. This is a very strong type of coffee. It is dark and thick and many people order it in order to give them the caffeine they need to get their day going. You will find many drinks in coffee shops have espresso. It won't be uncommon to see signs that you can add another shot of it too for an additional price.

Learning these basic coffee shop terms will help you to understand just what all is being offered on that menu. That can make it less intimidating when it comes to ordering a drink you haven't tried before. That can be fun and exciting too as it will add some variety to your daily routine.
