In many instances you will need to entice them to give your business a try. If they like the service that you offer at the facility then they will likely continue coming back.
Consumers are wary about spending money on something they aren't sure about. Most of them work too hard for it to let it blow in the wind. You can help to resolve this issue by offering a free tanning session for new customers. They have nothing to lose by checking out what you have to offer them.
In addition, offer them a discount to sign up for a package deal after their free session. You may feel you will be losing money this way but you aren't. You may have given them the first month at price but now they are a regular customer. They are going to be paying full price to tan each month after that.
There are plenty of products that people can buy when they start tanning. Some people don't want to invest in them though. You can offer a free product to new customers when they pay for their first month of service. This is a great way for them to see how well the products work. At the same time they will be encouraged to continue tanning and to buy those other products as well.

Make sure you are taking care of the business you already have too. If a customer comes to you with an issue make sure it gets resolved to their satisfaction. Offer them incentives for referring others to your business as well. You don't want them looking into other tanning locations because you aren't taking care of their needs. Make sure they are able to quickly get in for scheduled appointments.
Operating a tanning salon is a great opportunity. It is important though that you are doing all you can to increase your number of regular customers. You want to develop long term relationships with them by continuing to offer them the best possible tanning experience.
