Do The Newer Vending Machines Increase Sales?

Vending machines have certainly changed in style from the past. In fact some of the very old ones are collector's items. There is one inside of our local barber shop that he stocks cold drinks in for the kids that come in to get a hair cut. He gives them the coins to insert after they have been taken care of. It is really a great treat for my kids and I am sure it is for many others as well.
Recently I sat inside our local Wal-Mart for about an hour while my kids looked at video games. I was tired out and my feet hurt from my boots that looked cool but were really hard to break it! There are eight different vending machines in this area. A couple of them are very old and basic looking. A few are newer than that but still not new by any means. One of them is something really attractive that I assume is a very new model.
This newer machine was definitely appealing to those walking into the store, especially children. It features a design on the front of it that changes from one picture to the next. Some people stopped to look at it and I did see some people buying from it just to do so. Yet many people were counting their change and then reviewing the prices on the vending machines. It wasn't surprising that this newer machine sold products at twenty cents more than most of the others.
You will find many manufacturers of vending machines and sellers of them will take this angle. They want to sale the newer vending machines so they explain to potential buyers that they can attract more customers by having a colorful vending machine or one that shows the item being carried down to the dispenser.
As a result you may end up struggling to make the kind of profits you need to be successful. If you look at another spin on this, you could now get other models of vending machines for less money. That will increase your profits and that may be the right road for you to take with this type of business.
It comes down to being your decision but don't let the look of it be the only influence of your decision. It could be one you end up regretting in the near future. When you are evaluating the locations to place your vending machines you may want to take a look at what your competition will be. It is best to get a good location where no other vending machines are at. Yet this may not be possible and you can't control someone else wanting to place theirs next to yours later on either.
Do you think you can compete with how they look? Definitely something new to be thinking about in the vending machine business. Of course the goal is to find places to put them that will get plenty of business AND you don't have competition around for it to matter.
You need to focus more on the reliability of the vending machines you have than anything else. This is what will keep your customers happy and coming back again. Wash the outside of the vending machines on occasion to remove dirt and debris. Make sure you replace anything that is broken even if it is only cosmetic in nature. If the lights are burned out it can give customers the impression that your vending machine isn't working.
