They may hesitate to make that first reservation but if you make it extremely enticing they will give you a chance to prove yourself. There is a good chance they will become regular customers at that point and even send you more business due to the praise they have to say to people they know.
There are many angles that you can take when it comes to helping your bed & breakfast to move forward. You may want to try out several things at once so you can have more of a chance that something is going to work out for you. Take areas where you really need to make improvements and include them as part of your promotions as well.
You can also offer a free weeknight with a weekend purchase. This can get guests to stay an extra day. Paying for two nights and getting three during the weekdays will also help guests to save money. They will find this appealing and definitely choose it over paying for a hotel room for three days.
You also need to offer a very competitive price so watch where other similar businesses are. Hotels and motels are your competition as well so know their prices. You don't want to be too high or you will lose out on a number of guests. People can also become skeptical if you are too low so try to be very close to what others similar to your business are charging.
Don't pass over those that have already frequented your business though. It is harder to get new people than it is to keep current customers happy. Do all you can to make sure they know you appreciate their stay. Offer them special promotions that you send to their email account. Offer nice raffles and drawings where they can win fabulous prizes as well.
Since word of mouth from your happy customers will bring you business, you need to reward them for it. Chances are they will also be more willing to spread the word every chance they get if you are going to provide them with some prizes, discounts, or even free stays when a set number of referrals complete their reservations with you.
Use the power of the internet to help your bed & breakfast business as well. Allow the guests to have access to everything from looking at your business to setting up their reservations. You can give them a discount for taking care of all the details on their own. People love to save money and if you promote it that way they will be more inclined to take you up on the offer.
There are so many ways that you can help your bed & breakfast to grow so don't limit yourself. Break out of old habits and reach for new strategies so that you can move forward. There are plenty of very successful bed & breakfast locations out there and yours can certainly become one of them.
