There are many mistakes out there that occur when a person is attempting to get a tan. They will often turn to a tanning salon out of desperation to take care of them. Some owners aren't willing to help out unless that person is already a customer. They don't train their staff to effectively handle these issues when someone one calls or comes into the business.
Yet these types of tanning mishaps should be viewed as opportunities for you to generate more business. You already know they are interested in getting a great tan and if you help them out they will be more likely to start tanning in your salon. They will never forget how you helped them and that gives you credibility. It also can lead to them becoming a loyal customer.
Staying out in the sun and turning red instead of brown can be embarrassing as well as painful. This is more common with fair skinned people and they tend to stay out even for a short period of time and then are upset because they aren't tanning. They likely aren't using the right types of tanning products. You can have them come in to try out a type of tanning equipment.
In the mean time you can offer them some solutions such as using aloe vera to soothe the pain. You can also offer them a free tanning session in about a week so they can come in and try the place out for themselves. Samples of tanning enhancers can be given to them at that visit to encourage them to buy some.
Fake tanning products that people use at home tend to be a huge problem as well. I can remember using some that seemed to look great. In a few days though areas around my elbows and knees looked dirty. Some of these products also made my skin look orange instead of tan.
If you offer instant tanning booths that spray on the tan or airbrush tanning this is a good fix you can offer to them. You should recommend that they go home and exfoliate first to help. Washing with a mixture of soap, water, and lemon juice can also help to remove some of that orange tint.
This works best if offer sunless tanning options. They can easily get a color that really does look good on them. It can be embarrassing to go to work or anywhere out in public when your skin looks orange! It is very hard to hide the fact that you have been using fake tanning products. Do your best to help them put it in the past as soon as possible as it just won't ware off on its own fast enough!
While the personal tanning problems people have aren't a laughing matter, they can provide you with some excellent opportunities. They can help you to gain the trust of those that haven't been to your tanning salon before. Once they have suffered through such negative tanning experiences they will be looking for a better alternative. Make sure you are the place the turn to in order to find it.
