Brisbane, 11 August 2008. During tough economic times the first thing to get cut for many businesses is employee training. But some businesses have discovered the internet can save them thousands on their annual staff training bill.
Startnextweek.com.au is a website where training providers list their training courses such as computer courses and construction certificate courses, and how many vacant spots are available on each course.
Richard Brooks from Startnextweek said "Similar to accommodation sites such as Wotif and Quickbeds, many training providers choose to discount their courses by up to 50% just to fill the last spots on their program. Some businesses have saved thousands just by checking out the discounts on offer from all the different providers."
Businesses search through all the courses on offer across Australia, and choose the best course to suit their needs. Businesses can choose from over 40,000 training courses listed on the site.
"Many HR Managers use our website exclusively to source their training because it has all of their regular courses such as forklift courses, computer courses, responsible service of alcohol (RSA) courses, construction courses and induction certificate courses all in the one place. It saves them both time and money".
The site has been fully operational for 10 months and is proving very popular. Over 650 training providers regularly use Startnextweek to advertise their courses.
"It is a great boost to the business sector in general – businesses get the training they need at a great rate, and training providers (who are businesses in their own right) get to fill spots they wouldn't otherwise fill" said Richard.
