Are you struggling to pay your house hold bills and then finding yourself short at the end of the month trying to cover your health care bills or to buy the prescription drugs your doctor prescribed? If so you're not alone. The cost of health care and brand name prescription drugs has left many short in the pocket book. Fortunately there are now prescription discount cards available for those who qualify that will help cut some of your prescription drug costs significantly.

These Prescription Discount Cards can be a God send for those who can't afford health insurance. The cards allow the user to purchase prescription medications at a significant discount allowing the user to purchase prescriptions they may not otherwise have been able to afford. This is all do to a well orchestrated relationship between these third party companies and the pharmacies.

As a huge plus is that these cards are generally free. The companies know that their target consumer can't afford (or won't want to) join a costly membership. So, you're thinking that anything that's free must be pretty terrible, right?

Not to fear as these companies have done a great service to the down trodden by scoring some huge prescription discounts. In fact it's not unheard of to find some of the prescription meds reduced by as much as 75%. Easy there cowgirl that's the more exceptional discounts, but even the lesser discounted drug prices can be significant.

To give you an idea how great a savings this could be for you let's just say your prescription normally costs you $100 and you find that your new prescription discount card can save you 75% on that same prescription you'd now only have to pay $25! And the only thing you had to do differently was to use your new card which probably cost you nothing to acquire!

Of course, they aren't all presented at such great discounts, but you'd be surprised. When you're pinching pennies any little (or big) amount helps.

There are some people who mistakenly think that having one of these prescription drug cards is the equivalent of having an health insurance card which is not the case. A health insurance card and a prescription drug discount card are to very different beasts.

A health insurance plan will protect you in case of health emergency as well as everyday health problems. A discount card will only give you some money off of your purchase. They generally have nothing to do with going to the emergency room or going to the doctor. If it is possible for you to get the health insurance plan that is what you should do.

You will also need to check and make sure that you are eligible for the discount. Some cards are only provided to subgroups of the population like senior citizens. Others are provided to everyone.

Some you might want to look into are:

* Together RX Card

* GlaxoSmithKline Orange Card

* LillyAnswers Card

* Novartis Care Card

* Pfizer Share Card

This is just a short list of the cards out there so if you don't qualify for one of these just do a search and you may have better luck with another program. In fact some cards may not give as big a discount on some prescriptions you may have then others so if at all possible you may want to see if you can qualify for multiple cards so you can be sure to get the best deal every time.

Drug companies and those related to drug companies are often coming out with their own cards that place restrictions on the medication it covers. So, if you have to take a few different prescriptions you might have to get a discount card for each of them.

Now if you find you don't qualify for one of the various prescription discount cards whether that's due to age, income or even the fact you're in a different country don't despair as there are still some options available to you. For instance there are other sites online that promote online pharmacy distributor sites such as HealthCritiques.com who happen offer up a nice 10 percent 4rx discount coupon code for free. Xlpharmacy is another site they promote and in some cases these sites offer online drugs without prescription though I would always recommend that you never buy prescription meds anywhere without a doctors prescription.

In the end you might get lucky and find a great prescription discount card that is all-inclusive. Just make sure that you are getting the best possible deal. Until the health care situation improves these prescription discount cards can be worth their weight in gold. Just make sure you always read the fine print.
