Visiting a dermatologist can become quite expensive; because he is a skin specialist, but your doctor might refer you there as a last resort.

You can't expect to see results on your acne by only washing the affected area and applying medication - after all, if you are doing the same thing over and over, you should expect the same result.

I'm not implying that acne sufferers are insane, but going to a dermatologist might be premature. The dermatologist has an array of treatments for acne: prescription drugs, chemical peels and laser treatments, but if you only treat the symptoms it won't cure acne.

An overproduction of sebum, an oily sweat, is a result of hormonal changes, especially in teens, and causes pores to become blocked, resulting in pimples. The body tries to eliminate this sebum, filled with bacteria, through sweat.

Acne is cause by a flood of waste and toxins in the system. Your liver, kidneys and bowels are responsible for eliminating bacteria from your system.

Should the organs not function properly or if these organs are overloaded, the skin will be used to eliminate more bacteria. However, should your organs function properly, your chance of getting acne is very little compared to someone's who's organs are struggling to do what it is supposed to do.

Sweating out bacteria is a normal function ordinarily. But when the wrong foods are ingested and your hormones are kicking out more oily sweat anyway, you will get more bacteria eliminated through the skins pores. The human body works very hard to eliminate all bacteria from the body so the internal system does not become infected.

It is your sebaceous glands that are producing the sebum that helps clog the pores, infecting them with the bacteria. Then you have pimples. As troublesome as acne can be, pimples can almost be viewed as symptomatic of a deeper problem.

As mentioned, toxins, combined with too much oily sweat clogs the pores and causes acne. These start inside the body, therefore, to fight acne, you have to start internally.

You start at the core if you are cleansing your body from inside and this should be where you start when curing your acne. Starting from the outside only treats the symptoms and that could be why some experience repeated outbreaks, because they are only using external treatments and medication.

Unfortunately, acne is not a condition that most of us can just take pill for then forget about and watch it go away.

The root of acne is always internal; treatment would combine solving the internal problem and then treating the external symptoms.
