Have you ever heard of energy healing? Many have heard this term, and each person will have their own views and description based on their experience.
Modern languages do not contain many words to help explain or express the subtle nature of energy healing. In fact many of the words we commonly hear are not English words, but are words derived from eastern cultures.
The English language doesn't have many words to describe subtle energy. Many of the words used by the energy healers are in fact derived from the ancient eastern cultures that supported energy awareness and spiritual concepts, such as Buddhism.
Acupuncture is one form of energy healing, and is based on the understanding of the energy meridian system known in Chinese medicine. This system, much like electrical lines in the body, has been known and practiced for thousands of years. In more recent times our modern western technologies have confirmed these energy lines, finding that there are differences in the subtle electrical impulses at the different acupuncture points.
Reiki is one of the more common forms of energy healing. Reiki uses universal energy to energize and clear energy blocks from the body, mind and spirit. This technique, which originated in Japan, is practiced by doctors and hospitals as a complimentary treatment alongside their typical surgical or medical procedures.
Prayer is also a form of energy healing, using thought and intent to aid in the healing process. Many studies have been conducted on healing with prayer and without, and those studies have shown that the recovery time is shorter for those who received thought-filled prayer.
A shroud of mystery still surrounds energy healing. Is it possible to heal the body through thought and intent? Many believe it is not just possible, but that our thoughts are the leading force in restoring and maintaining health. Throughout time there has been a dividing line between those who believe in those subtle forces, and those who do not. Aside from the arguments we find that energy healing really does work.
