Going to the dentist is pretty low on the list of enjoyable things to do. Getting braces is even lower. The mere thought of doing so makes many people shutter with thoughts of agony, but do braces really hurt?

Some patients may experience a bit of soreness following certain orthodontic visits, though this type of tenderness should go away after a few hours. For pain that seems rather bad, orthodontists usually prescribe a low dosage of Tylenol or other pain reliever.

After the initial visit to your orthodontist, you will feel a bit of pressure upon your mouth. While this type of pressure is ordinary, it is nothing to be concerned about. Those that experience excruciating pain should contact their orthodontist immediately. Still, the fact remains that braces just don't hurt.

Much to the dismay of many school kids around the country, it is perfect fine to return to daily activities (including schools) the day after braces have been secured. Chewing may be a bit awkward at first, but most kids get used to the strange feeling within days.

There are some things so strange in life that one can be left speechless. This is currently occurring with braces today. They are a popular look. How popular? Many people, particularly teens, are applying fake braces to get the look.

Braces have come a long way since their formative days. When they were first invented, they resembled something kind of like a large metal helmet. Thankfully, today's braces are small, easy to wear, and painless. The only thing you have to think about is taking care of those braces properly.

Your new braces really should be low maintenance. Avoid the foods your dentist mentions. Keep an emergency repair kit in case you have a problem and you should have no problems with your orthodontics.

While you may not be able to change the fact that you need braces, you can be sure that those little wires won't hurt you one bit. Other than the occasional bit of discomfort, you'll hardly remember that your braces are there until you look in the mirror.
