The importance and the great help that can be delivered by air conditioners cannot be denied and this is the reason why also all commercial establishments have their own air conditioning systems. And for those who can afford the cost of having one, families are also adding these cooling system devices on their homes. The traditional air conditioning devices that are used on homes are the fixed ones that can be installed on walls and its condensers are located outside of the home. But there is a another type of air conditioning unit that is fast gaining in popularity; and that one type of air conditioning system is the portable air conditioner.

Convenience separates the regular and the fixed air conditioner. The portable air conditioner that can be used on homes can be moved from room to room and can even be moved from one house to the next. Contrast this with the non-portable ones that are fixed and only effective in cooling the main living area of the house. And taking the installation costs, the fixed ones are the systems that are more expensive.

Having the portable on home may have some disadvantages as well. This type of air conditioner may feature a reduced size and power output, thus this cooling device may be less effective at its cooling role. This cooling device may be noisier than the fixed one and expect as well that this type of cooling device may require additional maintenance steps on your part. You need to remove and to manually add water. A portable air conditioner can come in many types as well. This cooling device can come in two varieties as well and the type of device may depend on the condenser used. The two varieties include the remote type and the ducted type. The remote condenser that can be used on homes usually hung out on the window just like the split system. This kind of AC will come complete with the window slider kit. The ducted condenser on the other hand will blow the excess air out of the rear-mounted duct.

The portable air conditioner that can be used on homes can come in drip or the non-drip typ. The drip model of AC will expel the excess moisture and this need to be periodically drained from the AC system. The non-drip model on the other hand will evaporate the condensation into the air. Another question that is often asked is the advantage of this type of cooling system to the heating/cooling system. To be sure, the cooling system is not better than the combined cooling/heating system. But the former is cheaper and can be purchased by anyone. Another concern that is often asked in relation to the portable air conditioner is the type of maintenance that needs to be done. Questions like how often the portable one should be cleaned are often asked. As suggested, the portable should be cleaned regularly and the filters of the device should be cleaned twice a month.
