Moving to a new home is a project a lot of people dread, feeling there are so many things to pack, clean and take care of. However, there are a lot of things you can do that can make the whole move so much more easy and convenient.

If you decide to let a moving company do the whole move for you, all the way from packing to unpacking, you obviously save yourself from most of the hassle. For those on a budget, this is usually not possible and there will be more work to do and for those movers there are a few helpful things that can be said.

First of all you want to make a moving checklist. Write on it the things you are going to pack as well as other tasks that need to be done, such as address change, cleaning and anything related to the move. In this way it gets easy to stay organized and you don't risk forgetting something essential that you have to do.

If you want to avoid last minute stress and to have a somewhat easier packing, start it a good bit ahead of the actual move, a few week up to a month is often a good amount of time. Start with goods you don't normally use and close to the move you can pack down your everyday items.

It's a good idea to call the moving company about a month in advance to make sure they are not fully booked on the date you want to move. Since most people move the last and the first days of the month and on weekends, these are the times where moving companies are most busy, and unless you book them ahead of time you might have problem finding a reputable mover.

The way you pack can really make a difference. Always use a lot of padding around fragile goods and use appropriate boxes that are filled to their capacity. In this way you don't have to end up with damaged goods at your new home. Also label each box with its content and the room its going to to make the unpacking easier.

Before you move the furniture into your new home, make a plan and let the moving company or yourselves place the furniture at the right spot straight away. This will save you a lot of unnecessary lifting. Don't rush it when you're moving in, let the unpacking and reestablishing take its time and do a little every day or more when you feel inspired.

If you only know the tricks and stay organized throughout the whole move you might be surprised to see how smooth a home moving actually can be.
