How to Properly Choose an MLM Opportunity

If you have decided to begin a new network marketing business opportunity, there are hundreds of choices and dozens of compensation plans to understand. Make sure you take the time to investigate and understand as much as possible about the potential company. Doing your due diligence could save you a lot of potential headaches.

The compensation plan is the first thing to consider. How many ways can you receive income from being a distributor? Are there bonus plans? Team bonuses? You must be clear as to how you will be compensated for your time, energy and efforts.

Secondly, take a close look at the products or services. You want to see products that are both unique and in high demand. If the products are consumable, such as nutritional supplements or weight loss supplements, this will result in ongoing retail purchases.

Then consider the company itself. Is it a brand new start up? (could be risky) After about 3 years, the company should be in a growth phase? (is it?) After about 8-10 years, the company should be mature and stable. Do your due diligence. Go out to Google and do some research. If it's publicly traded, are there any problems out there with federal regulators? Is the stock price healthy or are financial analysts concerned?

Finally, don't forget to choose your team and your sponsor with great care. Don't overlook this last detail. No matter how talented, skilled and determined you are to succeed, a sponsor who is arrogant or unhelpful will impede your progress.

You have probably called several different potential sponsors about various opportunities. Did you feel particularly uncomfortable or awkward while speaking with anyone? Were your phone calls or emails promptly returned? These are important details to consider.

Look for a sponsor who knows and understands Internet Network Marketing. This is a relatively new thing for your industry. You will want guidance to do this correctly. Question your would-be sponsor about how they will train you and mentor you in this new direction. Will they help you with a personal web site? Show you how to set up your own autoresponder? Teach you how to use MySpace and Youtube to generate leads and business partners?

Keep looking until you locate a confident, knowledgeable leader. This person will be your new coach and mentor, so make sure that you feel comfortable with the choice. A good mentor, combined with a good company will greatly increase your odds of success.
