So you are ready to go to College- Things You need to buy for your room.

I remember My first day college, I was excited to meet new people and see new things.Overall learning the whole new world. I had so many questions in my mind but didn't know any body yet whom I could get the answers from. I had to purchase new things but had no idea what to buy and where should I go to buy them. That was three years ago....

I saw an advertisement today on TV for the kids who are going back to college or joining this year so my mind clicked and I recalled the beginning days.I thought it was difficult for me to get information so there must be other people in the same situation without answers.So here I am to write about what you should be prepared with before hand so you don't have to feel awkward to ask questions from people you don't know.

I really found myself in dilemma what I had to buy for my room and from where.I did by the stuffs but trust me it really took a lot of time for me to do that.So to make things easy for you here is the list of items which you should by before you reach you dorm room.

Top 5 items for your dorm room-

1.Bed and Mattress - Yes this is the first item which you should start looking for when you think of items for your dorm room.I would suggest to buy these from local stores around your college or school so that you don't have delivery problem.At the local store the first thing you ask the sales representative is Do You Deliver? and What are the charge?. This is because I got tricked by the store for $50 which was almost 25% of the cost of the mattress.Make sure they chage you as less as possible, infact you should call atleast 10 stores to find out the charges before hand.

2.Desk - Computers are essential part of the life of a student or anybody, so make sure you do have a desk in you room. The best place to buy one would be Wal-Mart and Target.Local Furniture stores are very expensive at least 30% more than what you can get from Wal-Mart.I got a real good deal at Wal-Mart.

3. Lights - I remember when I moved in my dorm room there was just one main light in the room.i used to keep awake late night and my roommate was really bothered by me for keeping the lights on.So I bought a small table light which helped me and my roommate lot. Ikea have really good collection of lights so you can grab one from them.

4. Chair - Depends on what size room you have you definetly need a chair in your room.If you plan to stay on campus most of the time you are provided with one.But if you got a room off-campus you need to buy one. Again Wal-Mart is great at that.

5.Area Rug - Area Rug is very essential for your room specially when you are in colder regions. Your floors get really cold and its good to have a rug warm your feet in cold on top of that it gives a rich look to your room and adds beauty. Area Rug could be very expensive or very cheap depends on what you like. Online Rug Stores are very good places to buy rugs specially when you could save more than 50% of what you will spend in local stores.
