It is very important that a child learns responsibility on an early age. When the child learns to be responsible it means he will know how to respect oneself and another, self-preservation, dedication and to have pride for themselves. By giving the child chores and, if the child doesn't complete these chores, punishment, most parents think this the way to teach a child responsibility, which is not.

The previous scenario is merely teaching the child to finish chores to avoid punichment. The deeper value of the lesson is lost. A parent's goal is to teach responsibility, including self esteem and pride in themselves. By punishment for chores undone, this goal is not reached. You must teach your child to take pride in what they have achieved, then will your lessons be successful. These lessons will be part of your child's entire life, on into adulthood. He will ultimately be passing these lessons on to his own children.

What you teach your children will often be seen in they adult lives, especially at work. If they have learned to stya out of trouble, this is the pattern they will follow at work. Never aiming higher, just staying low, will be enough for them. if you teach them self pride and reward them for doing a good job, they will seek out more in life.

A very important factor in teaching responsibility is to challenge your children. Add every week a special bonus to keep the chores exciting. This way you will raise enthusiasm about what can be a daunting task. If putting the trash outside is one of the chores, add on a positive motivational influence for removing the leaves from the driveway or cleaning the garage door. You may offer doubling the payment for cleaning the garage or bathroom. Let them clean the subtitle parts too.. dust the shelves, reorganizing the shelves, cleaning the mirror.

Many children enjoy special treats of things they really want (new bike, football, etc), cash and stickers. utilizing a reward system in regards to chores is a fantastic way to instil responsibility in your child, but dont' forget teamwork. This is important as well as fun for the child. A good example would be letting them help with folding laundry or bed making, while doing these things, sing or dance. Race each other while performing these tasks. Teaching children to want to succeed is essential to their lives.
