If you're looking for a new kitchen, but your finances aren't, consider refurbishing it. Remodeling can be pretty expensive, but should you refurbish you can have a new kitchen without needing a loan.
Just select a good color combination to apply to your kitchen to give it a new look. Think about the areas you are planning on changing and choose a theme that you can live with for a good period of time and that has your personal touch in it.
You can make your kitchen look new again with the original kitchen cabinets by painting them with a new color which will drastically change the appearance of your kitchen for little cost. Also, you can change the look of your cabinets by replacing the old hardware with new. This can be achieved by simply replacing the handles and hinges of the cabinet with new ones.
Another option is to change the color of your ceramic tiles. Try some different shades or textures using the special paint available. Consult some home improvement magazines to find ideas.
Your sink in the kitchen can be given a new look by installing a new faucet. And whilst you are changing these you might consider fitting a kitchen water filter at the same time which will provide you and your family with a continous clean water supply. An under the sink type will filter all the water you use in your house so if you're only wanting to filter your drinking water you need only fit a faucet model. Once installed the only addtional expense will be replacement water filters.
Flooring is a major component to be considered whilst refurbishing. It is important to choose flooring that is specifically designed for the kitchen. It should be tough and easy to clean but you can still lookout for interesting color combinations and patterns.
Laminate flooring is very popular nowadays and can make a good choice for kitchen flooring. It can be easily cleaned, is highly durable and stain resistant and is available in many designs. There are varieties available which will make the floors look like natural stone or hardwood as well as different colours.
Another option that can be considered is vinyl flooring as it is cost effective and has an unlimited number of styles, color, and designs to choose from. It is easy to clean, stain resistant and resists water.
So before you spend good money on a brand new kitchen think about the ways you can refurbish parts of your current room and you will be pleasantly surprised at how much time and money you might save.
