Keywords are directly related to whatever you're selling. For example, if you're selling pocketbooks you want to find all of the words that mean pocketbook including the word pocketbook. Once you have a list of keywords, you can then go into Adwords and put up advertising. It's one of the quickest ways to get your product out to those who are interested.
Since Adwords cost money, you may want to take a different route that will take a little longer, but can still get the word out about your affiliate best marketing program. Utilizing the signature in any forums you are associated with or just in your personal email can start the word of mouth circulating about the free to join affiliate programs you joined. It's not as good as Adwords, but it's a start.
