Although email marketing is a great option for promoting a website, email marketing campaigns are totally dependent on the list building factor. If the list of email addresses is not built carefully, the email marketing efforts will just go down the drain, without producing any positive results.
If the list of email addresses you are using is not very long than the email campaigns you are trying to carry out may not be very effective. If you want good results from your email marketing campaigns, you need longer list. If your list is not growing in size automatically with the passage of time, it means that you are missing some very important steps in collecting data to build this list. Your list can grow in size very quickly if you ask the visitors of your website to fill out small, easy forms if they are interested in your products and if they want promotional information from your side or not. This opt in kind of email list is always the most effective one. You can do some surveys or get some help by placing your membership forms on related websites.

These are all questions important in selecting a list (or building one!)
