It may seem strange, but in todays society it is more common to find children spending a great deal of time in a daycare center rather than spending time with either parent. Since you depend on other people to raise your kids, you want to make sure you find daycare workers that you can trust and that your kids can trust.
Since you want to instill the ability to trust adults in your kids, running a child daycare background check is a precaution that should be a no-brainer. If you find that a daycare facility doesn't want you to check them out, move on to the next one.
Ask your prospective child daycare provider some very basic questions that include:
* What prompts you to work with kids?
* What is your reason for leaving your last job?
* Under what circumstance would you discipline a kid, and how would you go about it?
* Do you do anything to help prepare a child mentally and physically?
* How do you work with kids to encourage learning?
* Do you have experience in teaching art or music to young kids?
* Do you play with kids inside and outside?
Now check out your daycare center by asking a few questions such as:
* How do you handle parent visits while their kids are in your care?
* Do you provide other arrangements in the event that the program closes?
* What are the hours of the facility?
* Who watches the children when they are playing on the playground?
* What is the age of your playground equipment?
* How often do you have your playground gear inspected? How are the kids arranged to use the equipment?
* What is your diversity policy and does it include kids with special needs? How are those needs met?
* What is the education level of your daycare employees?
If you are thinking of hiring a nanny or babysitter, you should always do a child daycare background check that involves an extensive criminal history check. Do not let yourself feel bad for conducting this child daycare background check. These are your kids and you want to make sure they are safe. In the event that you are thinking of sending your kids to a daycare center or preschool you should also check the sex offender's database for the neighborhood that surrounds the center or school.
Driving records also reveal a lot about your prospective daycare provider. If you find there are multiple alcohol-related cases, or other abusive activities, you might want to steer clear of the daycare facility and find one that you are more comfortable with.
If you are thinking of hiring a nanny or permanent babysitter, you will also want to verify his or her identity and social security number. This part of the child daycare background check will tell you where he or she has lived for the last seven years and where he or she has been employed.
Always get, and check, references provided by your daycare provider. If you can't get in touch with any one of the references, ask for another one. Also, check with other parents that use the daycare center to see how happy they have been with the care that has been provided.
Doing a child daycare background check is something that must be done. There is no such thing as "too safe" when it comes to caring for children. You should ask for any information you think is important. The more extensive you are in your child daycare background check, the better you will feel as you wave goodbye to your kids when you drop them off on your way to work. Child daycare background checks are all a part of the process of being hired for child care. The prospective child caregiver expects it, so ask any questions and request any information you need.
