So let's compare home security from Brinks with that from ADT.

ADT is another company you've probably heard of. Like Brinks, they have a history that goes back well over 100 years. As an American home security company, they are probably the second most well known.

If you look into ADT's customer satisfaction levels, you'll discover they're just like Brinks: They have a wide mix of very happy and very negative reviews from customers who were either praising or complaining about the service. One customer accuses the service people of being "idiots," but has nothing but good things to say about the monitoring center.

A lot of the negative reviews are caused by the poor installation done by third parties. One customer suggests that people study their contracts, thoroughly test the system every month, and buy straight from ADT (not a third party). You'll have a better experience if you follow these steps.

So it looks as though the home security industry isn't very consistent when it comes to customer service, but slightly more so in reliability. But like anything else, it's a good idea to compare home security companies, read your contract, and watch out. Don't let the company lead you blindly!
