The GPS, on the other hand, utilizes microwave signals as satellite frequencies transmitted by at least 24 medium Earth orbit satellites to precisely track down a vehicle's direction, speed, and location based on its transmitter. The sophisticated technology involved is completely free of charge, explaining the popularity of GPS above other national systems used at the civilian level.
Unlike some vehicle satellite-based navigational systems, GPS does not require line of sight for tracking to be effective. Even if your vehicle goes under a tunnel, it can still be tracked by the GPS tracking system.
