When you sign up to your vent host, make sure that you ask for a specific list of locations if it is not obvious on the host's web site.
An initial step in the process is to investigate your gaming community to get a list of members. Typically, in a guild host, forum, or other community service, you can pretty rapidly compile this information. Of course, you need to make sure gamers understand why you are asking for this info.
Once you have the locations of the members in your gaming community look for an area that is centrally or as close to centrally located as possible. You want everyone to be able to access the server and the service with equality. Then look at the locations that are available from the various Vent hosting services you have short listed and find the one that offers service close to that centrally located spot.
Doing this will provide you with the perfect way to let all your members have equal access to the serve. Previously it used to be difficult to find a centrally located spot for servers because of the fact that there were fewer locations because of bandwidth and internet availability. The speed of the internet now makes it much easier to have access to locations further away from you.
Previous to the speed increase in the internet and the larger availability of servers in Vent hosting companies you have to be close to or in the same city as the serve location in order to be assured of a connection to the server. Now you can be anywhere and get a connection. It does however work better the closer you are and most people choose the Vent hosting location closest to them or in this case centrally located so that all members can have access.
By doing this you ensure equality, you ensure that everyone has similar speeds based on speed loss due to the distance between connection points. It is not as big a deal as it used to be but there are cases where it is important to make sure that you have the shortest distance between points. This will ensure that your gaming community has the best that Vent hosting has to offer.
