Being a teacher or a camp director is a hard job, especially when trying to come up with something both fun and useful for your kids. If you are not the creative type, this gets even worse because you tend to spend a lot of effort in order to create interesting projects. Don't lose your hope, you can make yourself more creative with a little work, you just need to find those ways which help you get some interesting ideas.

Nobody is Mr. or Mrs. Perfect

Before starting, you need to forget about perfection. If you think that things only have one solution, you are completely wrong and you make things difficult for yourself. There are numerous crafting options for every kid program you may choose. When it comes to craft programs, there is no wrong program; you verify if it's suitable for the kid's age and skill and you can use it.

Next, consider your budget. When choosing a craft idea for kid programs, you need to be aware that some of them are expensive. Prepackaged kits to make a fun foam picture frame or a craft stick cross are affordable for a few kids, but if you are needing to do a craft with a lot of kids, these kits might cost too much. It's often easy to do almost exactly the same project by just looking at the craft kit components and buying the same materials in bulk at the discount store. You may have to do some preparation, like cutting out shapes ahead of time, or at least making cardboard patterns for the kids to use in cutting out their own. The savings will be worth it, however.

Boys and girls are different when it comes to crafting

Another consideration is this: in spite of years of indoctrination from women's libbers, the fact remains that boys and girls like different sorts of crafts! If the craft seems a little girly, don't use it at boys' camp. Stick with lace-up leather billfolds, Indian artifacts, dinosaur art, and similar projects. Girls will like beads and anything that's pink or purple. For a craft idea for kid camp where there are kids of both sexes, keep it on the boyish side and provide some pink materials to keep the girls happy.

You may find ideas in books, magazines, or websites that you visit; you don't need to be a creative guru. Just try to improve any idea which comes to mind and put it into practice. If you try to change the appearance of the craft kit, like changing the slogan or make small modifications, the kids may find it more fun and more interesting.

It's not necessary to change the whole craft kit or change the way you use it to create something enjoyable. Use the instructions provided if that has more advantages; don't worry about the kids, because they can have fun, no matter what you choose to do. Give a kid a craft idea and he or she will enjoy it to the maximum, making it even more creative than you expected it to be.
