The most successful people in the world are driven. They drive themselves and do not need to be told what to do. The power in this is that they only do one thing different than most people.
They envision what they want out of life and they set themselves out to achieve it. This is done simply by identifying what it is that you want. Once identified, they make the "to do list" a priority.
It's very easy to feel overwhelmed by having too many goals and to just give up. The key is to start off setting realistic goals. Pick just one goal that can be accomplished in a few days or a week.
When a short term goal is achieved, it can bring a sense of empowerment. This can be used as the fuel to create and accomplish additional goals. Goal setting and accomplishing them can take off like wildfire.
Maybe one of your goals is to lose twenty pounds. This is a mid term goal that will not happen overnight. Swimming hundreds of laps daily would not be a realistic short term goal.
If the goal is to difficult, you will fizzle out. Instead, consider making a goal of just swimming ten laps. Once accomplished, you may be able to set a new goal of twenty laps for the next day.
After a week or two, you might up to fifty or sixty laps. You probably will have lost a few pounds as well. By keeping this up you can realistically reach you goal over time.
The best way to accomplish a short or mid term goal is to schedule it. The more specific the time frame, the better. If the time frame is too broad, you probably won't get it done ever.
Some people find success when they write their goals down. This is very powerful as it forces your mind to keep the goal in sight. You know what they say, out of sight out of mind.
He great news is that once you accomplish your first specific goal, you will start to feel better about yourself. This can give you the power to set more goals. Before you know it, you might find yourself setting and accomplishing goals in all areas of your life beyond exercise.
Every person who does something wonderful usually had a game plan before they broke through. Hindsight is 20/20. One day you might look back and realize how that one goal turned into a bunch of others that kept leading to bigger and better things.
