As you started college, gone are the days when you had a structured school day. You have classes intermittently throughout the day, assignments to be completed, presentations to be made and examinations to be prepared. Not only that, living out allows more time for you and your new friends to go out at night. With all these new and exciting arrangement in your life, you will definitely benefit from some college effective time management tips.
College Effective Time Management: Classes Will Be Your Priority
To many, college is just a big social scene. And not to blame them. Who can forgo the opportunity to mix and know so many new friends? After all, college is supposed to be the best years of one's life. But, as true as that can be, college is also about learning new things and getting a degree, so you can acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to secure your job in the future. Therefore, prioritizing your needs and wants are very crucial aspect of college life. Of course, you can have fun and go for the many fun activities with your friends, but at the same time, you have to make sure you do not drop out of college. So, how can you succeed in both your classes, and in the social scene? Easy,with the help of college effective time management skills.
College Effective Time Management begins with evaluating your priorities. It is important to realize that while you might put a lot of emphasis on your social calendar, it is your academic calendar that should always be given the first priority.
Next, college effective time management goes with being organized. Lecturers most of the time will hand out notes. So you should invest in a large folder, one for each subject, with pockets for each class. Compile the notes of each lesson into their respective pockets. Every few weeks, take the notes out from the folders and compile them neatly according to their dates in a ring file. This way, you will know exactly where your notes are and you will not need to search for it frantically each time you want to do revision. And trust us, this will definitely save you a lot of time and headaches!
When we are dealing with college effective time management, it it crucial to plan ahead and creating a balance between what needs to be done, and what you would like to do. For instance, if there is a party on Friday night, and you have an exam bright and early the following Monday, you may want to make a choice of forgoing the party. But another better way is to study prior to the party. Or dedicate the whole weekend for revision after the party.
Another thing that you can do is, on a Sunday, make a list of all the things that you know you will have to do during the coming week. Then, make sure that you have time for social events, and of course time to just generally relax. You will generally get into a schedule, which is very good for your college time management.
It should be noted that sometimes you will have to forgo some fun events in favor of your studies. However, the sense of accomplishment you will feel when you get that degree after four years of hard work will certainly make it all worth it.
