There is a wide selection of poker chips sets around. You have a choice of chips, dealer buttons, cards, and case. It all depends on your personal choice and needs.
Most poker chip sets consist of a case, poker chips, a dealer button, two decks of cards, and five dice. That's basically where the similarities end. Some poker sets are meant to be mobile while others are meant to stay home. You need to consider not only what kind of set you what, but also where you'll be taking it.
Of course when you keep your poker chips set at home you can make a big splash with a sensational looking showcase. It should match your furniture but at the same time be one of the centerpieces of the room. These fine looking showcases are generally made from highly polished wood and have nifty little drawers for all the bits and pieces you need for your poker game. Needless to say you will need to match your chips to your case and shell out a little for clay chips, but it will be well worth it.
On the other hand, if you are going to travel from one game to another you will need a more practical case for carrying your chips set. The good news is that when you purchase a poker chips set you will often get a case included. Your next decision is whether you will have a wood or aluminum one. Occasionally you will see plastic cases but these are not so common.
Of course wood will look beautiful but although it looks pretty aluminum is more durable and practical. This is because wood can get damaged easily and soon looks shabby.
Aluminum is much more resilient than a wood carrying case. Another advantage is that it is relatively cheap to replace when it finally gets run down.
If you are a serious poker player you will need a poker chips set. However before you decide which one to get you need to think whether you will be keeping your set at home or traveling. Then you can select the cards and chips you need in your set and the right carrying case.
