If you're looking for a great motorcycle global positioning system that you can use easily with gloves, you may want to consider the Garmin StreetPilot 2820 GPS unit. The 2820 is so loaded with features, you'll be hard up to want anything more!
Unlike smaller units, the 2820 features a nice and large screen. Strangely, some people think it's too big. However, my experience with GPS units indicates that the more screen you have, the easier navigation is. The screen is built to display well in sunlight, which I really like. The other screen-related function that I think is cool is that it's touchscreen-enabled. You don't have to fiddle with any buttons!
For the person who hates pulling something out of the packaging and waiting 12 hours before its ready to use, the StreetPilot 2820 is your kind of toy. This unit is preloaded with absolutely thousands (ok, millions) of points of interests like great restaurants, gas stations, ATM's, hotels, stores, and basically anything else you might want to find. All you have to do is pull the 2820 out of the box, plug it in, and you're set to go. No waiting, no hassling.
It's got a great feature in its XM radio and MP3 player functions. If you are subscribed to an XM radio provider, you can load up your favorite tunes on the MP3 player and switch between the XM radio and MP3 player for variety or if the terrain ends up blocking the radio signals (i.e. mountain biking). You also might enjoy listening to audiobooks with the 2820's neat audiobook function. You simply would buy some books off of audible.com and add that to your MP3 collection.
It might seem like all the audio features would drown-out the audible navigation prompts so that you get lost. However, that's not necessary. There's a neat little mode you can set on the StreetPilot 2820 that will sound a tone when it's ready to tell you your next turn to make. You then hit the "speak" button and hear clearly your next set of directions. No need for annoying and unnecessary interruptions. Simply set it how you like it and enjoy!
Motorcyclists love the Garmin StreetPilot 2820 over others like Garmin Quest. It's a whole lot easier to use so if you're speeding down the highway, you can operate the GPS unit a whole lot safer. The safety that comes from easier handling makes the 2820 worth a whole lot more!
The 2820 has a Bluetooth feature that is pretty handy. It has a speaker and microphone that works with Bluetooth compatible phones to allow you to make calls hands-free. If you're using it on your motorcycle, it's pretty neat because you can connect both your Bluetooth compatible phone, and the 2820 to your helmet or headset so you can hold a conversation and receive navigational directions at the same time.
The Garmin StreetPilot 2820 may be more expensive than some other models, but it's so feature packed that it'll last you a whole lot longer than other GPS units with lesser functionality. In fact, you'll wonder how you ever got along without it!
