What really makes a gift? Is it its cost, or where you got it from or what you will use it for? Is it only a gift if it is wrapped or if it is given on a special day?
The fundamental principle about a gift is that it should have meaning. That is what makes a gift a gift. Well at least that is what this author has found out. The meaning of a gift goes beyond its cost or the prestige of where you bought it. It really doesn’t matter how big or how small the gift you give is but it is whether it came from your heart, whether that gift has a sense of emotion attached to it and not holding false meaning.
Never underestimate the power contained in a gift. A true gift can only be given out of love, even if that is unsaid when the gift is delivered, but you can feel the presence of such emotion. This love can be for your family, friend, spouse or even religion, but one cannot give unless one has love. They say money cannot buy love, therefore it isn’t mandatory to shop for a gift. One can simply pick a flower from the garden and give it as a gift. Even giving away something you do not need anymore but can change someone else’s' life can be a gift.
The opportunities to giving gifts need not be limited by the depth of ones pocket. As they say,
"Actions speak louder than words" so it is. When you give someone a gift, you are saying to that person words that cannot be expressed verbally even if you tried. You are expressing care and concern for that person. You do not need to shop in order to manifest those emotions, but utilise whatever opportunity you have by giving even the simplest gift.
Of course it cannot be denied that when you use wrapping paper for your gift or buy it in an expensive shop it makes the gift more attractive to us, but to all those receiving gifts, just remember that the gift is not about its attractiveness, but it is about expressing emotion, it is poetic! This also applies to those searching for the perfect gift to buy, it could be right under your nose and there could be no need to even use a penny!!
