Well let us look at the biggest piece of equipment you will need to buy, your very own poker table. How about a lovely looking mahogany table with matching felt? This hardwood is durable as well as looking wonderful. No doubt it will be expensive but it will be worth the investment.
Sticking with our Mahogany theme, we'll buy one of those poker chip sets that are designed to sit in your den next to your humidor. It'll have a glass covered top so you can peer in to see 1500 Paulson poker chips staring back at you. The little hand-carved, felt-lined drawers will glide out to reveal your poker decks and your mother-of-pearl dealer button. This awesome poker chip set, the envy of all who lay eyes on it, will cost you around $2200 and be worth every penny.
This is of course a dream that very likely will not come true. You are probably not going to go crazy and buy this type of equipment. So why are we talking about this?
Here is the point. No need to get the best of everything, because you know very well that "best' is just a term and means something else to each individual.
What you can do is search the web a little, read some good articles about poker chips and poker chip sets to decide what kind of poker chips and what kind of poker chip set is best for you given the money you want to spend. Find yourself a poker chip set that meets your needs and that you can be happy with...and if it so happens that a $5000 poker table and a $2200 poker chip set makes you happen then that's fine...just make sure you invite me to your home game.
