The average cost of a wedding is at an all time high; with an average day costing around 25,000 dollars it accounts for why the industry is worth an astonishing 25 billion dollars. There is huge pressure on young people to spend vast sums of money on their wedding but it really isn't necessary; although you may not believe it now, a cheap wedding can be arranged which everyone will enjoy. However, sometimes all that is needed is some help with the planning to help lower that total; generally making savings on those aspects that are always expensive.
1. Low Cost Bridal Gown - The wedding dress is one area where huge amounts of money are spent; this is something that will only ever be worn once so a previously owned dress is worth consideration. The huge cost of a new wedding dress cannot always be justified these days; many bridal shops carry a large number of previously owned dresses that can be hired or bought for considerably less than new.
2. The Wedding Reception - The biggest savings can be made with the reception; the average number of guests is just under 190 but this is an area where costs can be reduced as soon as you start to plan your cheap wedding. Reducing the number of people who attend, including distant relatives or friends you haven't been in contact with for years, will help enormously; you can even carry out some of the catering yourself and have a hot and cold buffet style meal instead of a four courses.
The venue of the wedding reception can also be somewhere less expensive than the local golf club or hotel; using a small club for example will mean the drinks bill is less by only catering for wine, beer and soft drinks at the bar.
3. Images of the Wedding - Although many photographers are employed for the entire day, this isn't really necessary; the majority of guests are more than happy to take photos on behalf of the couple, and they will be 'natural' shots as well! Although it may sound like an unusual idea, you always have the option to not use a professional photographer at all; there is no reason why the photos can't be taken by your guests and you will find yourself saving many hundreds if not thousands, of dollars.
4. Cheaper Contemporary Invites - It is also easy to save money on your wedding by designing and printing all your own stationery; with a good computer program and a home printer it is amazing how professional the results are these days. With sophisticated customization tools you'll be able to enter your own text and preview it before you print; so as not to make any costly mistakes, all from the benefit of your probably underused PC.
5. Flower Bouquets - There are also savings to be made with the flower displays; there is no reason why the flowers cannot be purchased from a wholesaler just as florists do. If possible, try and get a friend to make your wedding cake for you; cakes do not have to be the traditional fruit so try a sponge cake with a chocolate flavor filling for example
6. Wedding Transportation - Savings can also be made by not hiring that expensive limousine and using a friend's vehicle; given a good clean and polish it can make an acceptable substitute.
Remember, a cheap wedding does not necessarily mean a bad wedding; just think of how much you will have saved to start your new life together!
