As hard as you try to avoid it, you're bound to experience a breakup eventually. This is heart wrenching when the man you just lost was the perfect guy for you, and all you can think about is getting him back. The situation varies, with some cases having perfectly clear reasons for him leaving, and others that you may never understand. Sometimes you may even leave Mr. Right, only to understand later the horrible mistake you made.
Don't feel completely hopeless though, since there are definitely things you can do to get him back! Your first step should be trying to understand exactly why he left you in the first place. If you don't know why he left, then you won't be able to plan how to get him back. If the reason was serious, like somebody being controlling, possessive, abusive, or a cheat, you may want to think long and hard if you really want him back.
Then think about what attracted him to you originally. If this initial appeal no longer is part of who you are, that could be why he broke up with you. Consider what you've changed about yourself, and whether these changes have been for the best. Remember that the perfect partner doesn't have to accept or be comfortable with every aspect of who you are. You may be able to think of something you can't fully accept about him too.
Take your past memories with him and use them as a weapon, so to speak. Remind him of the great times that the two of you had together. Does he remember what he is missing out on now that you're no longer in his life? Wear his favorite outfit and make sure he takes notice. The purpose isn't to inspire jealousy but to open his eyes to what he used to see in you before the breakup.
At the same time, it is important that you not go about trying to get a man back through manipulation or mere hints. Be honest with him. Talk directly to him, either face to face or on the phone, but let him know that you wish things would have worked out between you and that you really want another chance for that to happen. It will be more important to him than you may realize to hear these words and this much honesty about how you feel. Ask him directly what went wrong and if it could be fixed. And if the answer is yes, ask him if you both could give it a try.
These are just a few hints and pointers that might help if your goal is to get a man you were with back into your life. But it is also important to realize that these tactics will only work if he feels the same way about you. If he no longer has feelings for you, nothing you can say or do will change that, and you need to move on. You can't force someone to be with you, and even if you could in the short term, it would only lead to long term resentment and further unhappiness down the road for both of you. Also keep in mind that he has his own feelings and motives, and if you start to realize that he is using this situation in any way to manipulate you or take advantage of you, break it off immediately. You always want to be sure that your goal is to increase your happiness not just today but tomorrow, next week, and even further down the road as well.
