You have just broken up with your ex and had enough time to realize what a horrible that is to be in...so what do you do? Is it possible to fix the mistakes of the past and get a real second chance with him? It is indeed, if you have the right plan and the right attitude for the job.
First things first: how did you get here? Its important to remember that mistakes WERE made, and if your ex was the one who ended the relationship that means its up to you to make them right. Do not expect to fix all your troubles with one apology...its not quite that easy, although if you follow the right process it doesnt have to be much harder.
So here are a few tips for how to wipe the slate clean and make your ex warm up to the idea of giving you a second chance. If you follow all these ideas, you will quickly find yourself in a much better situation in which your ex is more likely to take you back, or at least hear you out so that you can convince him to take you back.
1) Cut off contact, for about a month. So soon after a breakup, there is bound to be a lot of emotion flaring up and flying around, and things can be said that will never stop haunting you. Giving your ex some space gives him time to cool off and time to clear his head...gives him a chance to miss you.
2) Avoid the common harassing mistakes of a breakup, such as the Drunken Dialing and Text Message Terrorism. Late night drunken phone calls or oppressive numbers of text messages begging him back not only breaks the No Contact rule, it serves to really get your ex sick of talking to you...which makes things a lot tougher for you should you get through the month of no contact and be ready to enter talks, only to be unable to get ahold of him because he avoids your calls.
3) Use your downtime away from your ex to organize a plan, a real system for getting him back. Going into this blindly and without a plan will not end well, so even if your month of no contact is up avoid contacting him again until you are sure of what your strategy will be. Doing it this way is far more effective than trying to wing it.
The no contact rule is for more than just to make sure you dont end up hurting your case even more, its also to help you find time to organize yourself in more ways than just building a plan. Its clear that the relationship had problems, it would not have ended otherwise...so make good use of your time and address any issues that you have control over. Putting forth that effort will prove a good investment in the long run.
Never forget the importance of having a plan. This is a delicate process, and even if your ex is less hostile towards getting back together there are still a lot of things that can ruin your chances. Having a professional, proven plan can cover all those potential hazards, and help you a lot on your way to getting your ex back with success.
