Many people are afraid that soon after your Russian wedding, you will be inundated with administrative work, and Visa hassles. Although there is some paperwork to file and deal with, it is relatively easy compared to what people think it will be like.
Many years later, when you look back on your Russian wedding, you will only recall the exciting wedding day and all the celebrations rather than the hassles you had to deal with later. The hardest part, although, will be the answers you will have to give your concerned family and friends who might insinuate that your Russian bride is only using you to gain citizenship in another country. But you should stay firm on your decision and not get carried away.
There should be no doubt on your intentions for marrying a Russian woman. You might have fallen for her when you first saw her on a vacation or on an online dating website. However you might have met her, you are in love and wish to marry her. Love can overshadow any problems regarding paperwork that you may face after the wedding.
First you should understand what the "Fiancee Visa" is, also called the K-1. This document allows your sweetheart to stay in the United States for a limited time period, during which the marriage should occur. Usually it is for 3 months, which is enough time for you to get to know here, and make the big step.
The K-1 is a non-immigrant visa that allows your fianc to live with you. But once you are legally married, you will have to prove that you both live together and function as a family. In order to obtain the K-1 visa, as the future spoyse, you will need to submit an Alien fiance petition from I-129F.
This petition is necessary to bring your betrothed, and her children if any, to the United States for wedding. You have to fill in the forms K-3 for your forthcoming mate, and the K-4 forms are to be filled for her children if any. If you hold these Visas, then you can succeed in getting a permanent citizenship in the United States. Never be afraid that your new spouse and her children cannot adapt to the life in the United States as they can get employment there if they have forms K-3 and K-4 after obtaining the Employment Authorization Document.
This may sound complicated, but, in reality, it is very simple. All that you need to do is, fill in all the necessary documents as per the guidelines given. You can take the help of certain agencies which specialize in this field. There are special attorneys too who will look after your paper work and give you updates from time to time.
Of course they do cost money, but it will save you time when dealing with all the paperwork. In addition, many of them have websites in which you can see updates and the progress that you are making with the Visas.
You should enjoy your marriage, and let others deal with the formalities.
