If you are getting ready to say your vows with the love of your live, you have many options to consider. Traditional weddings alone offer almost countless location choices, and for those who are willing to perhaps go against the traditions a bit and opt for other romantic destinations where to hold their marriage celebration, the choices are almost overwhelming.
A sharp rise in popularity - with respect to locales for nuptials - is found with destination weddings. Even as the term might be a bit misleading, the underlying idea stipulates that the happy couple will choose a romantic locale that might be far from home - or sometimes just the next county over - as the romantic ambiance of the place may be just what they were looking for.
Of course, any time that you destinations are away from home, planning needs to be meticulous and very detail oriented. This holds true not only for all the trimmings of a traditional wedding, but also with respect to guests, guest accommodations, and also travel itineraries for those who might be coming from far away.
Yet whether you are deciding to get married in the romantic spot off the Italian cost where you first laid eyes on each other or on top of the Ferris wheel where he proposed, there are some pitfalls you need to be aware of so as to ensure that your marriage celebration does not reduce you to a heap of nerves.
First and foremost, of course, is the weather. While you may have met your spouse to be in the warmth of the summer months, the weather just a scant two months before or after that momentous day may be entirely different! There is nothing worse than envisioning your ceremony against the backdrop of a blue sky and then learn upon arrival that you have planned the ceremony for the middle of the rainy season and the sky is all but grey. Similarly, remember that different locales have different rules with respect to marriage licenses and public permits for using a public venue for your nuptials.
Whenever your ceremony will take place in a destination other than your hometown it is always advisable to hire a wedding planner who will not only see to all the legal requirements but who will also have the contacts you need to obtain cake, floral arrangements, banquet halls, and whatever other incidentals are needed. Granted, a professional will charge for the services rendered, but considering that the business will stand behind the vendors that will be chosen to not only do the decorating but also the catering, you will find that having this responsibility taken off your hands is well worth the expense!
In addition to the foregoing, if there are last minute problems or chances, it is the professional wedding planner who will ensure that all goes well. As you are being dressed in your wedding finery, the very last thing with which you want to concern yourself is the cake decorator who is stuck on a turnpike somewhere and may not make it in time for the event. Leave it to the professionals to do the sweating!
Finally, do not be disappointed if a number of friends and even family members beg off attending your nuptials. Remember that they are not slighting you, but that a trip to the Bahamas or Europe in the middle of the school year is not something that fits in everyone's schedule or budget.
