For the groom, getting dressed for the occasion is easy. Just pick up the tuxedo rented months before, get dressed, and be sure to return everything after the wedding with all the pieces in decent condition. The bride has a more grueling task ahead. Dressing the bride requires poring over magazines and websites searching for the perfect look, then months of dieting and humiliating dress fittings. In addition, the bride also needs to buy all the accessories. If the couple are not planning on a courthouse wedding or running off the Las Vegas, selecting wedding attire is an unavoidable task.

Attire for the wedding couple is a task that needs to be dealt with early, especially if the date falls during the height of wedding season. After setting the date and planning the wedding budget, it is the first task on the engaged couple's list. Many women do not need any reminders of this! Many already have an idea of what they like as they have been thinking about the big day most of their lives. Even so, most brides still spend on average four to six weeks shopping and trying on dresses before they make a final decision.

After her search time is over, the bride still needs ample time for custom fittings and special ordering. A wedding dress typically needs three fittings to guarantee the perfect dress for the big day. It would also be prudent to allow extra time for any unexpected delays or emergencies.

The wedding dress along with the accessories often takes a significant portion of the wedding budget. This isn't totally necessary as there are always options that would look stunning without spending thousands. The amount available for the wedding gown should be fully discussed by the couple with a set amount agreed upon in advance of the purchase. For the bride, who will be the center of attention and the focus of many photos, looking her best will be of major importance.

To help the discussion along, begin with talking about the type of wedding you both want ? elegant, informal, themed, seasonal, outdoors, or something else. The wedding attire that the groom and bride select is going to set the tone for every other aspect of the wedding including what others wear, the color scheme, decorations, invitations, flowers, venues, transportation, everything.

And in addition to the wedding dress, the bride needs accessories including the veil, headpiece, train, shoes, undergarments, stockings, garter, handbag, and jewelry. Much of it can be ordered along with the wedding dress, but other accessories will have to be purchased over the coming months. Be sure to factor in the costs for these accessories when planning the wedding attire budget.

And as was mentioned in the beginning, men's wedding attire follows the lead of the bride's. Men need only locate a tuxedo rental outlet 6 ? 12 months before the date, get fitted and pick up their tuxes, which come with all the accessories they'll need ? cummerbund, bow tie, vest, even shoes!
