Planning a wedding can be a stressful experience if not handled correctly. There are a multitude of tasks to be completed and the potential to leave something out is extremely high. Therefore, the more planning and preparation that can be done the better chance no aspect will be left out or not completed, and the wedding will be a fun and memorable event.

There is a good chance that the weeks leading up to the wedding day will be extremely intense and busy. It is a good idea to set up schedule months in advance which covers all of the necessary tasks to be completed. As you get closer to the special day, check off these tasks one by one. The more time you allot for planning ahead of time, the more likely nothing will be left out, and you can be confident that everything and everyone is taken care of.

A big part of planning a wedding is choosing the location, and this location affects further planning a great deal. For instance, if you have family and friends who live far from the site of the wedding some accommodations should be made. Contact local hotels and motels to see if there are any group rates available for friends and family to take advantage of. Once you have lodging figured out, provide specific directions both from the hotel to the location of the wedding ceremony and also to the reception if it is in a different location.

Also, depending on the size of your family and also of your home, you may have people staying at your house. If this is the case, separate preparations need to be made in order to accommodate your houseguests. Consider purchasing extra food, extra sheets and blankets and perhaps extra cots or air-mattresses. When planning the specifics of a wedding, it is generally a good idea to have too much rather than too few important items.

Planning what time of year the ceremony will take place in is also very important. The timing of the wedding will most likely impact everyone's schedule. The location of the ceremony can also be affected by what season the wedding will take place in. As far as time of year, there is more to consider then if it is simply going to be warm or cold temperatures. The weather varies greatly during different seasons and some seasons are more likely to have precipitation than others. If you are going to have an outdoor wedding in the summer, try to choose a summer month that tends to get less rain.

It is also important to have an idea about the venue that you will use before you choose a time. If you desperately want an outdoor wedding you can generally do it in the spring, summer and fall. The summer is the primary season for outdoor weddings, and venues are often booked well ahead of time. The same issue can come into play for churches and synagogues. Indeed, many churches and synagogues need to be booked as far as a year in advance before they are available. Keeping all of these factors in mind is crucial. It is a good idea to balance out your priorities between time of year and location to make your ceremony a success.

The guest list is another important aspect of wedding planning. It is generally a good idea to begin by compiling a list of everybody you may want to invite. When you get an idea of how much the catering and facilities will cost you can narrow that list down based on budget. Invitations should be sent out no later than three months before the ceremony, however sending out invitations as early as possible is recommended. If friends and family whom you originally invited are unable to make it, you can begin inviting others that you could not previously accommodate.

A final point to mention is deciding on seating. Seating friends or relatives together who tend to argue can lead to disaster. Try to avoid conflicts by putting people at tables where you think they will get along with others. If the numbers of children or young adults are high, consider providing a table or two exclusively for them. They will love the opportunity to get away from their parents, and the parents will love the break as well.

There are countless aspects to consider when planning a wedding, and it is best to take them one at a time. The most important thing to remember through all of this is why you are having the event in the first place. Seeing all of your friends and family together is well worth the months of planning that is necessary. With the proper amount of time and attention to detail, your wedding can be everything you dreamt it would be.
