All-In- If you watch poker on TV, you've heard this a million times. "I'm all-in". This bet, if called will put someone at risk for all of their chips. In no-limit tournaments, all-in bets are very common at certain stages of the event.

Top Pair- When your hand pairs the high card on the board. With a Qd-10d-3s board you have As-Qh. You have flopped top pair.

Check-Raise- A check-raise is an aggressive tactic, usually employed when you have a very strong hand. You check your first chance to bet hoping that someone else makes a bet. When it's your turn again, you raise this bet.

Overcall- An overcall is made when you call a bet after more than one other play has also called the bet.

Pot Limit- Pot limit poker is a little different than no limit. In pot limit you can only bet the amount in the pot.

Rainbow- A rainbow flop has no cards with matching suits. This means that no one can get a flush on the turn card.

Rake- In most cash games, a rake is taken from the pot as a house fee for running the game. Some games require that there is a flop is seen before any rake is taken from the pot.

River- the river is the last card dealt on the board. Many exciting hands are won or lost on the river. The river is also called 5th street.

Turn- The turn is the next card dealt after the flop. It is also referred to as 4th street.

Satellite- A satellite is a tournament that qualifies you for a bigger event. Many players use this to try to play events that they can't afford to enter for the full price.

Side Pot- Side pots occur when one player is all in but the other players in the hand continue to wager. The extra bets form a side pot that only the players putting in money can win.

Smooth Call- When you call a raise with people behind you still to act, you are making a smooth call. This usually is a sign of a very strong hand.

Slow Play-When you have a big hand and check, or bet small, you are slow playing. Many players get in trouble slow playing high pairs, and are disappointed often when players out draw them.
