Bournemouth is well known for its tourist attractions and possibly its biggest draw is its beaches. The town has around seven miles of golden sand and crystal clear water.

The town’s beach has been voted the best in Britain by readers of Coast magazine, with it being awarded 4 blue flag awards, a green tourism business scheme silver award and a quality coast award.

One of the best places to go to while visiting the beach in Bournemouth is the Pier Approach. It has many restaurants for you to eat in if you get peckish, shops to browse and a great Oceanarium that lets you see life below the water.

Your visit to the beach will hopefully be stress free with services running trains taking you along the beach, to and from Alum chine and Boscombe.

Three cliff railways will also allow you to see the coastline as you travel up and down the cliffs. Once at the top you can walk cliff tops taking in some spectacular views along the south coast.

The beaches are extremely family friendly and try to facilitate everyone’s needs with many great features such as dog-free, smoking free and BBQ areas of the beach. Beach huts are available for you to rent out to relax in, and the traditional deck chairs make a welcomed addition to the beach.

Parents often find taking children to places like beaches very stressful, well Bournemouth Beach office have launched a scheme that will hopefully help this. The scheme is called LV=Kidzone and revolves around free wristbands you give your children. The principle is that if your child wanders off the colour coded wrist band is assigned to an area of the beach that you are based in, which will hopefully make pairing up lost children with their parents a lot easier at the busier times of the year with this wristband scheme.

Also making your Bournemouth beach experience better is the RNLI beach lifeguard team and volunteer lifeguards that provide constant surveillance and advice. The teams have six beach offices at Alum Chine, Durley Chine, Bournemouth, Boscome, Southbourne and Fisherman’s walk making sure their patrol is spread out evenly.

Next time you decide to choose a beach based holiday in the UK, why not consider Bournemouth.
