If you're a visitor to Adelaide, you'll know it's the wine capital of Australia. However, there's a lot more to this city than great wine. Here are a few tours that'll help you discover Adelaide.

Adelaide has many tours to offer. In fact, there's something that'll fit the interest of just about every tourist. You'll be able to match any budget or schedule with one or more of these exciting tours. Plus, many of them offer a chilled glass of wine!

First time visitors to Adelaide who'd like to get to know the city can hop on the 99B and 99C buses. Take a free ride around the city and get a good look at the architecture, shopping, and entertainment options that Adelaide has to offer.

For those who love history, the Culture Heritage Guided Walk could be a good choice. You'll hear about Adelaide's history and founding father, William Light, as well as many of the other people who made the state what it is today.

If you'd like to take a look at everyday life in Adelaide, consider a trip with Adelaide Private Tours. This tour provides tours of local villages, talks with area artists, and dinner with a family from Adelaide.

If you'd prefer to find out about two of Adelaide's most famous attributes - churches and drinking places, consider the Pubs and Pulpits tour.

For nature lovers, there are the Guided Bird Walks and the Botanic Gardens Free Guided Walks that bring you up and down the dignified Torrens River and in close proximity to Adelaide's beautiful flora and fauna.

There's other wildlife to see, too. Sign up with Premier Stateliner for the Victor Harbor and Cockle Train Tour to see Victor Harbor, Middleton, Port Elliot, Goolwa, and more. There's whale watching and surfing, or you can take a Little Penguin Colony tour to the nearby Granite Island. There, you'll see hundreds of Little Penguins walk on the beach as the sun goes below the horizon.

But if wine tasting is really your thing, there are dozens of organized and guided tours that will guide you merrily along Adelaide's five world-famous wine regions - the Adelaide Hills, Barossa Valley, Clare Valley, McLaren Vale and the Coonawarra - which are all known for producing multi-award-winning wines.

Dozens of tours offer visits to venues where you can taste great wines, as well as a few stops for food and grapes. Side trips are available to old German towns and Lutheran churches. If any of these visits spark your interest, you can sign up for them with Busway Travel Service, Adelaide Sightseeing, and Gray Line. One of the best tours available is A Taste of South Australia. This tour allows private, luxurious introductions to some of the state's best food and wine.

Coonawarra makes a great weekend trip. It's where some of the classic red wines that Adelaide is known for are produced. It's also the site of the Naracoorte Caves Conservation Park, a World Heritage list venue.

The McLaren Vale Food and Wine tour will take you to the McLaren Vale, which offers 48 extraordinary wineries as well as the state's most magnificent beaches, including Maslin Beach.
