You could barely remember what he said but it was something about the Danubian culture. Unfortunately for your father, you are more familiar with the Danube Dance. Besides, Slovenia's rich history and culture are not the reasons why the family packed the luggage and duffel bags, boarded a plane and landed at the Klagenfurt Airport in Austria, and then spent the next 40 minutes driving to the Zgornjesavka Valley where the Kranjska Gora ski resort is located.

Nestled by the peak of the Julian Alps and the Karavanke Mountains, the family was pleasantly surprised to find out that it is not a ski resort that is difficult to find. You are actually relieved. You were not happy with the thought that you'd spend the rest of the afternoon asking for locations as your parents struggled with the translations of the country's language. All went well and smoothly. And despite last minute decisions about the arrangements of accommodations, the family was also please to know that there are more than 100 hotels, apartments, and hostels to choose from. In the end, the family settled on one cozy apartment which the parents like to think as the "home away from home."

As an adventurous kid, your views are a tiny bit different. The apartment is really nice and it does remind you a little bit of home. But you found out that there are campsites in the area. It would have been fun to sleep under the starry sky. It is summer already, you argued with your father, it won't be so cold. But, like all sensible parents who don't want to get into an argument, you mother and father simply told you to unpack your stuff.

You did unpack your stuff. You've never really skied before but your brother and sister already knew how. You sighed, knowing that they will probably laugh at you all the time, just like the way they did when you were learning how to skate. But you do like your new ski gear. You got a new yellow ski jacket, new helmet, new ski boots, goggles, mask, and of course, the skis. You heard your parents talking about trail maps, bunny slopes, and taking a gondola. The gondola is the most comfortable for all three kids, your mom pointed out to your dad. Your dad also considered visiting the Triglav National Park. Your sister can take a lot of pictures using her new camera. Then you heard something that changed your destiny: dwarfs.

You ran outside your room and demanded truth from your parents: are there really dwarfs in this place? They exchanged guilty looks, as if they were caught with their hands in the cookie jar. Your mother was careful when she answered. Well, there are three places that you can check out, the Kekec Land, the Triglav, and the Gozd Martuljek - Jasenje. For you, the solution is simple: you just have to check out all three places.

The Kekec Land is an exciting place. You met a lot of enchanted people, such as the funny Rozle, the friendly Mojca, the scary Pehta, and, of course, the shepherd boy named Kekec. The huge and bearded Vitranc looked like a dwarf. But he told you that he's not really a dwarf. You don't believe him 100 percent. But you told him that you'll take his word on it. The Triglav trail is another exciting place. There is a treasure hidden at Grancisce. You liked Gregec. And you were careful in eating the giant's biscuit because you don't really want to wake up the giant. You were told that there were also fairies but you kept your eyes open for dwarfs. And you found dwarfs at the Gozd Martuljek - Jasenje. They were everywhere. You ran after them and you played with them. This is the most exciting vacation of all.
