Popular holiday islands the Balearics are an archipelago located in the Mediterranean Sea. Each of the islands offers a unique experience for tourists of all nationalities and ages. The largest island of Majorca is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the world. The other islands, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera are becoming increasingly popular for various reasons. Several very small islands that are sparsely inhabited, if at all, add to the beauty of the landscape and horizon.

Family Friendly Vacation on Menorca or Mallorca

Planning the perfect island vacation can be a daunting task, especially when children are involved. Family vacations are a very important part of life for millions of families world-wide. Majorca's beaches are some of the highest ranking beaches in the world. Some are long stretches of white-sand beaches while others are tan or darker sands. All of Majorca's beaches are immaculately clean and perfect for family beach vacations.

Majorca is also great for families because of the sheer number of amusement parks on the island. Aqualandia El Foro de Mallorca in Palma is a water park with mini golf and a very nice wax museum. Aquapark is another water park with a water castle and go-kart track that is generally enjoyed by all ages. Hydropark is a water park with a primary focus on the enjoyment of smaller children.

Aquacity S'Arenal is one of the largest water parks in the world. It features several water rides, a parrot show, petting zoo and mini golf. The Auto Safari is another major attraction for families, especially those with young children. The tour showcases many animals including monkeys, giraffes and zebras while the mini zoo gives an up close view of baby animals and reptiles.

Menorca offers a wide array of outdoor activities including horse riding, cycling and golf. Due to the year-round mild climate, golf is a much celebrated year-round sport. Club Son Parc is a large resort featuring an eighteen hole golf course. This family-friendly resort is home to the only official golf course on the island with a practice range and instructors for beginner golfers. In addition to land-bound sports, water sports are a vivid part of any vacation in the Balearic Islands.

Ibiza Beach Activities and Clubs

Like the other islands, Ibiza offers a variety of resorts and activities for all ages. Some of the more popular activities include horseback riding, hiking, diving and snorkeling. Beach activities include sunbathing while sipping your favorite beverage or playing beach volleyball at any of several volleyball nets. Boating, sailing and fishing are very popular among the adult crowd of tourists to Ibiza.

Eighty beaches and lots of clubs make Ibiza the central hub of excitement for party-lovers. Several celebrities including Jade Jagger and Kate Moss enjoy the party scene at Ibiza's most popular clubs. The island of Ibiza is as family-friendly as any of the other Balearic Islands but the primary focus for most tourists to Ibiza is the vivid night life - but for those who like the day time a look at the Ibiza weather forecast shows what great weather Ibiza has.

Most clubbers and party-goers enjoy late afternoon swimming and sunbathing, leaving most of the beaches much less crowded early in the day than the other islands. Most of Ibiza's beaches have full-time lifeguards to help ensure the safety of all who enjoy a variety of water sports. Sport fishing is organized by several local agents and family-owned businesses. Such fishing trips are often very productive and enjoyable, especially in groups and families.
