8 Seconds
"8 Seconds" is a movie that was released back in 1994 and at the time it was released I remember saying to myself: "I bet that would be good". Time passed and I never got to see it. Then Sunday night w/ the NBA finals game a massacre, I was flipping through the stations and found "8 Seconds" just ending on channel 28 (ESPN Classic Network). Ignorantly I watched the last 8 minutes.
However, to my surprise it was being shown again immediately (10-12 pm)! So I watched it and I can honestly say that it's 1 of the 10 best films I've ever seen! Luke Perry (formerly on "90210: Beverly Hills") was the deceased rodeo: bull rider world champion.
I don't like bull riding or the rodeo, but Perry played Lane Frost and Lane loved what he was doing intently. He was nice to all the young boys that looked up to him, instead of being a snob and was all around a respectable man. He was going to give up the sport and reconcile w/ his wife (they were separated), when in his final performance a bull he rode for the full 8 seconds turned on him and snapped his spine w/ his horns, killing the young man. Lane Frost was the youngest man ever to be inducted into the rodeo hall of fame.
I highly recommend this film to everybody: it's not about that particular sport, but of a genuinely nice man :)
